AM Session

8-9 Early Care

puzzleFor families requiring extended hours. Students will have the opportunity to eat family provided breakfast or quietly play with table top activity of choice

9:00-9:30 Welcome and Table Activities

Children will come in the building and hang up their coats and backpacks in their assigned cubby. Students then enter the green room and sit at one of two of our tables for activities that promote fine motor development. Activities such as puzzle, lacing, play dough, and coloring will be available for children to choose.

9:30-9:45 Circle Time/Morning Meeting

Children will gather to talk about daily events, discuss the calendar (day of the week, month of the year, as well as seasons) weather, and current curricular themes. Every day children will engage in a shared reading, like a poem or a picture book.

9:45-10:30 Small Group Instruction and Centers Time

Children will work in a small group every day and also practice what they learn through various classroom centers. Examples include the building center, art center, reading/listening center, and sensory center. There will also be a dramatic play center that is changed throughout the year.

10:30-10:45 Snack

10:45-11:15 Whole group activity/ Enrichment Class

Children will have an opportunity to do a whole group art, language, math, or science project. Some days throughout the week or monthly, the class will be involved in

an enrichment class or a special visiting workshop.

11:15-12:00 Playground/Gross Motor Time

We will always try our best to bring the children outside to play, weather permitting. We are committed to providing our students with as much opportunity to be outside so layers, rain coats, snow suits, and boots are encouraged

 

12:00 Dismissal for morning children

 

PM Session

12:00-12:30 Lunch

For our full day students this is an opportunity to eat and socialize with their friends. Children attending the afternoon session only are encouraged to bring their lunches as well. The children will be split between the blue and green rooms, depending on their individual needs.

12:30-1:30 Rest and reflection (Blue room)

After children eat, the lights are dimmed and soft music is played.     After listening to a story, children will rest on individual mats in a quiet and comfortable space.

12:30-1:15     Small Group Instruction and Centers Time Children will work in a small group every day and also practice what they learn through various classroom centers. Examples include the building center, art center, reaplaying-in-the-mudding/listening center, and sensory center. There will also be a dramatic play center that is changed throughout the year
